BEAR AT THE MAYHEW

Hi all...

I have been meaning to post this from last week - but unfortunately I have been swamped!

Anyway, Bear is a GIANT of a dog that has finally arrived at The Mayhew Animal Home from Afghanistan. Bear was a dog meant for fighting in Afghanistan, and has had his ears and tail docked. He was very lucky to have escaped his fate, and has recently been brought to England, and finally to Mayhew.

I have had the privilege to meet Bear - tho I have yet to have any contact with him as he is over 6ft tall when he stands up... Hopefully he will find a new home soon... Here are some links to Bear's story....

Hi Natasha! Sorry for taking so long to reply you...been busy with uni stuff. So how long will you be in London? I've heard of Mayhew!! Love their website. The closest animal shelter to me is the one in Battersea. How many times do you go to Mayhew to volunteer? I'm afriad of signing up cuz it seems they want regular volunteers who can commit to go every week at the same time.

Keep in touch!

Hi there Joyce,

Well Battersea would be a lot closer to me too... but I actually travel over an hour to get to Mayhew every weekend...

it's really worth it cause Mayhew really tries to give all the animals there the best quality of life - some dogs I think have a better life at Mayhew than in a home...

And yes they would like to have volunteers who are committed, but if you need the occasional day off, they don't mind - just need to tell them in advance so that they are not stuck with no help on that day...

In the mean time take care...

Regards
Natasha
